Ford & Baidu Partner To Transform & Disrupt Sharing Economy

Perhaps no app or technology has been more publicly disruptive than Uber, but like all disruptive technologies, it’s only a matter of time before the disruptor becomes the disrupted.

Ford Motor Company and China’s Baidu have teamed up and are investing more than 150 million dollars into a jointly developed autonomous driving vehicle that will be used to create a new driverless ride-sharing service that could very well be the disruption that forces Uber to pivot even faster (as they are on a similar path).

By 2021, Ford CEO believes that not only will this be a real business for Ford, but it may be one of their biggest profit generators. Here is our take on the move and what it means to autonomous vehicles and ride sharing.
